WOW!

It's been a while since I blogged. Well, Doug has almost completed his 13 weeks of boot camp. We will be flying out next Monday, Sept. 3, to see his graduation. I can't believe it has been 13 weeks since I have seen that little booger! I'm still his Momma so I can call him what I want. I'm so proud of all he has accomplished. And, the whole gang is gonna be there to celebrate. His Parents, Grandparents and siblings. His Uncle Eric and his girlfriend and her mom, too.

Not much else in the way of excitement here. Same O, same O. OH!! I am up to 24 pounds on the weight loss and only one more to go to reach my new goal before we leave for San Diego. I say new because originally it was 20. I met that and I had to set a new one.

Andrew is now in Biloxi Mississippi. He really likes it there. He starts his training for being an instructor next Monday and just has to report in and the rest of the day is his until then. And once his training is over, if he doesn't have a class to teach, the day is his. He says he's gonna like that. LOLLori has been thinking about finding her own apartment.

She says she move back hom, she hasn't decided. Her lease is up in March so she has a while to decide and save up money if she wants our on her own. She turns 22 in 14 days. Man, am I getting old.

Doug sounds like he is doing well in boot camp. All his letters have sounded up beat. He had his wisdom treeth pulled and got a day of bed rest. He also got 800 mg of Motrin a day and he said he wasn't feeling a thing. LOL He did say his knees have been bothering him. He goes up to camp Pendeleton on Saturday for four weeks. He will get to shoot his rifle and do lots more marching. The Crucible will be done there also.

God Sightings

I have had lots of those in the past few weeks, so I'm going to share some of them.

Sighting 1~Doug seems to be doing well at boot camp. He is the platoon prayer leader and led a fellow recruit to the Lord the first week there. PTL

Sighting 2~SMITE was great! I have been on these SMITE trips every summer for about the last five years, and I don't remember one being like this. I felt rested even after only a few hours of sleep, and really enjoyed it. I'm sitting here trying to put it into words and just can't explain it.

Sighting 3~ Rain. Thank God for the rain!! We got rained out of the park ministry thing we were to do on Saturday. So we had a concert of prayer. It ended up lasting 31/2 hours! Now, you have to remember this is high school aged kids and all were attentive and I think everyone of them left a changed kid. The group is bringing it back to our own church, which is having problems, and wanting to change them, too. I Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

Sighting 4~ I have lost 8 pounds!!

Too Quiet

It's been rally quiet around the house. It seems really strange to not have ot listen for Doug to come home or to a get call that he's runnning late. The other day, a gal from church came in with a bunch of donuts, from the bakery she works at, I said" Oh Doug loves these, can I take some for him for breakfast?" She said sure. I quickly closed the box....I remembered he wasn't here. LOL

I will be leaving in few days for our SMITE trip...Summer Missions In Teen Evangilism...we are doing a Youth Blast event and MVP (ministry, visit, prayer) along with a pizza night. In Frankfort, IN. It will be a lot of work, but should be fun.

He did it and they're gone!

Doug graduated! He is officially out of school. Now we have two week until he leaves for boot camp. :0(

Andy and Nicole have left, too. They came in for Doug's graduation last TH and left this morning. We had a nice visit. The house is very quiet tonight. LOL Doug is at MEPS for Marine stuff , and Luci is pooped from playing so hard with the her visiting friends: Andy & Nicole's dogs. After having a house full all week, it seems really eerie.

More about Doug..LOL

Well, Doug had an awards program Monday night and he got an award for computer class in Web Design. He was ok with that, no big deal. Well, he has a classmate who was accepted into the Air Force Academy, $385, 000 scholarship worth, and when the Major came and gave him letter he got a standing ovation. Really cool. Well, then Doug's guidance counselor got up and announced that Doug was going to be joining the Marines and leaving for boot camp in June, HE got a standing ovation too. He was a little embarrassed. LOL and mom & dad were quit proud.

Bragging a bit

Well, today was Doug's last home game of his H.S. career. He did an awsome job! It was a double header. He played second base in the first game and he pitched the second game and did great! Then, his last time at bat he hit a home run and drove in two other players!! I was so glad he had a great game, but it was even more exciting to know he went out with a bang!

He still has three games left in the season, and then sectionals start next week. I hope he does as well at all of those.

May!

With Mother's Day, I became a little reflective. I will soon be an "Empty Nester" as some say.

May always seems to be a crazy month at our house. We have end of the year concerts, awards programs, baseball games, end of the season picnic, Memorial Day and Race day here in Indy, and it marks the end of the school year for the kids.

This May is just as crazy! Only I find it a kind of sad due to the fact it is our final busy May, after 17 years, it's coming to an end. Doug, will be graduated this year.

I find myself wondering how I will spend my evenings with no more freezing at soccer games, cheering at basketball, or running the scoreboard at baseball. No more school concerts to go to either. My what progress the kids made over the years!

So, as this chapter comes to a close, I guess I'll have to wait for grandkids! Then, Crazy Mays can start again! LOL

Vera Bradley Stuff

Ok...so what is the big deal with Vera Bradley? I drove a group of ladies, by bus, for two hours to a convention center in Ft. Wayne IN. We waited in line for almost two hours and when we were let it was craziness!!! We each got a garbage bag and I was told if it looked like something I might be interested in to Grab it! There were ladies there grabbing the same purse in nine different colors and some had two or three bags full!

I did buy some things: Christmas gifts and a "Bowler Bag" for my SIL.

There were 25 of us on the bus so the lady in charge thought it would be cool if she added up what everyone purchased: $6,300+ it averaged out to $250 per person. Well, I can tell you, someone spent way over that, 'cause I didn't spend even close to that. Mine was like $98.

I was there and still don't get what all the fuss is about. LOL

Mom

Mom is doing well. She had Physical Therapy today and says she is sore. Her pain meds make her sleepy and she can't stand the fact that she can't stay awake after she takes them. LOL

Hi!

Ok...I started one of these. Last week was a busy week with working and driving a bus for a couple of field trips and mom's surgery, but all is well.

I like what Manpower has me doing right now and both my trips, one to the state Museum and one to Clowes Hall, were fun.

Mom's knee surgery went well and she did end up spending the night. She is now at home with dad taking care of her. I'm on standby. LOL
